Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or a Bundt pan with butter and flour.
- In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add sugar and continue beating for another 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix. If using optional add-ins, fold them in now.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 60–75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

- Do not overmix the batter to prevent a tough texture.
- Use room temperature ingredients to ensure even mixing.
- For a richer chocolate flavor, add espresso powder to the batter.
